EDITOR – I wish to respond to Mark Crozier's letter published in your 20 June, Berea Mail.
To say that this is a classic example of a mountain being made out of a molehill, would be the understatement of the year! This Glenwood resident claims that Glenwood Prep's signage board is a 'monstrosity' and is destroying his quality of life. His verbal onslaught continues to describe this professionally designed small digital board, as a horrible eyesore, that spoils a lovely suburb.
To you Mr Crozier, I say, take a look around you and you will see that most reputable schools nowadays, endorse digital signage that enhances communication between themselves and their communities. Everyone that I know in the community has applauded the various schools who have introduced this initiative – a far cry from your single minded viewpoint.
With regards to your so called knowledge of by-laws, may I suggest that you take the trouble to enquire from the relevant authorities, as to their current stance on digital signage. You sir, need to be informed as to what has truly become a threat to the quality of life experienced in the Glenwood suburb. The surge in petty and violent crime, together with the continued presence of prostitution, poses our community with real problems. When there are such real issues to focus on, it is thus somewhat difficult for readers such as myself to stomach such garbage as highlighted in your letter.
Your original letter claims that this digital billboard has been erected along Brand Road. When I last saw Glenwood Prep, it lay between Bulwer and Bath Roads. If as you claim, the signage is in Brand Road, your letter should have been directed to the high school!
