EDITOR – The letter “Stretch of Essenwood Road in a sorry state” refers.
It is unfair to expect the municipality to clean up rubbish dumped by owners or tenants on the pavement outside their buildings, particularly when the mess is long standing and has been brought to the attention of the owners.
The municipality cleaned up the mess on Saturday morning. However, the municipality does have obligations and is required to trim the trees growing along Essenwood Road, in fact the property next to the one under discussion.
We have been trying for many months to have the trees trimmed. What happened some months back is a team arrived late on a Thursday and trimmed some of the trees. On Friday the mulcher arrived and got rid of the branches that had been removed, with the comment they may be back Monday to finish but they are short staffed. We have not seen them again. We have logged lots of calls and have lots of reference numbers but to date, all we have is a half-done job and trees hanging over our property which is also a security threat.
