Residents shouldn’t have to live in fear

A Glenwood resident feels the community should shout at people who refuse to adhere to the rules of common decency.

EDITOR – It is indeed a terrible thing to see the degree of decomposition our area is falling victim to.

I might be just reporting on old news but it is beginning to become too much to keep it to myself, one cannot walk in the streets safely anymore without the constant fear of being accosted.

Just the other day in Bulwer Park, a place that was supposedly built for our amusement, I was verbally assaulted by a young man whom I had no recollection of spurring on.

I would lie to offer a simple but, it might prove to be, effective solution that we as the longstanding residents come out from behind our curtains and stop hiding in our little apartments and start speaking, shouting, screaming at people who refuse to adhere to the rules of common decency.

We must all remember this, our children and grandchildren walk and will walk these streets now and after we are gone and are helpless to protect them. We must try our hardest to make this world a bit better, socially, and we must try to stand steadfast by those old ways no matter what, if we as the community members want to live in a place we love and feel safe in.
