There can be no compromise

A resident feels there can be no legal compromise in the case of the proposed hostel at 80-84 Clark Road.

EDITOR – Regarding the outcome of the meeting on 80-84 Clark, all concerned should understand that there are legally binding by-laws, laws and acts in place.

So, in order for things to go smoothly, all local, provincial and national rules, regulations and guidelines have to be honoured.

If anyone does not like how things are governed, they should set in motions that would repeal and/or amend these Ts and Cs, with due procedure.

Until then, there cannot be any legal “compromise” – irrespective of who suggests and supports it.

But, having said that, who is there, in Durban, with the will to uphold our much vaunted Constitution and by-laws, laws and acts?

Personally, I have yet to see one – in government or opposition ranks. In Durban, that is.
