Resident dissatisfied with response

A resident says the councillor's reasoning for the illegal parking of trucks in the area does not 'wash' with him.

EDITOR – I wish to thank Councillor Nicole Graham for her response on 12 June, however, I am not totally satisfied with her comments.

To suggest that we (residents) need to be fair and refrain from publicly claiming that we have not been assisted by our ward councillor! I pose the question, when and how have we been assisted with the controlling and prevention of these heavy duty juggernauts taking over our neighborhood?

Ms Graham implies that she has repeatedly requested interventions from Metro Police and eThekwini Transport Authority including a number of meetings and site visits as well as receiving regular updates on operations in our area, if this is well the case then can the “regular feedback” be shared with the residents of Umbilo.

The ongoing comment that the reason why the trucks frequent Teignmouth and Hillier Roads is because there is no truck yard does not “wash” with me – we are talking about handing out fines not towing trucks to a yard.

At the end of the day we are still saddled with the same old truck problem that three DA ward councillors over a period of 10 years have failed to resolve – maybe I should stand for the next ward election because one is judged by achieving actual results and not by trying to achieve results.
