City website needs a relook

A resident said it was difficult to access the document regarding the proposed LUM by-law.

EDITOR – Regarding the community commenting on the proposed land use management by-law.

Clearly only the determined can even consider a submission, purely because it is so difficult finding the proposed by-law.

The site (eThekwini Municipality/Resource Centre/Public Notices) can easily be accessed through the Notice Board/Public Notices on the front page.

However the pdf available has a URL which returns a 'not found' comment.

I did find the awaiting document, but only after downloading three other documents. Now I'm too tired to read it.

I have asked the web mistress to get the City site up to MSA compliance. She is certainly not up to the task.

Maybe if we had our “Phase 4 – Citizen Centric Portal” (which we paid AdaptIT R6.5m for), it would have been an easy browse.

Cape Town's site is so, so much more friendly.
