EDITOR – Curro/Embury College in Lillian Ngoyi (Windermere) Road is busy undertaking building but seem to have forgotten that they are situated in a residential/commercial area and not an industrial area.
The noise emanating from the site early in the morning especially on a holiday or weekend, with jackhammers and machinery from 6am, is certainly not in keeping with a residential area.
Absolutely no consideration has been given to the many residents in the area. There used to be a law regarding times one could make a noise, but that too like many others is probably no longer in force.

Response from Johannes Mouton, executive head of Curro Embury:
Curro Embury would like to apologise for the inconvenience caused to neighbours during the current renovations to the school. We are currently in the process of upgrading the preschool premises; a process we believe will not only improve the look of the school, but will positively contribute to the area. Old school buildings are being restored in line with heritage requirements.
It was confirmed with the building inspectorate that the contractors are allowed on site between 6am and 5pm (Monday to Friday) and from 7am and 5pm (weekends and public holidays). We understand that the noise levels could be a concern, especially over weekends, and will do our utmost to limit these as far as practically possible.
We would like to thank members of the community for their patience; we hope our investment in the building upgrades will add significant value to the area.
