Expectant mums should contribute

A resident feels expectant mothers should be made to pay something towards their maternity benefits as well as to receive grants to a maximum of two children.

EDITOR – One is often faced with reports of the lack of finance to carryout health related projects and poorly equipped clinics or hospitals.

This should come as no surprise with the ANC's policy of free maternity benefits which is boosted by the free and endless child grant system.

Expectant mothers should be made to pay something towards their maternity benefits as well as to receive grants to a maximum of two children. Failing this we will continue to see an increase in AIDS, orphaned and abandoned children as well as young girls entering prostitution in order to qualify for financial child grants.

It is well known that many children don't benefit from the grants.
