City is not looking after its assets

A Marloth Gardens resident said the municipality needs to get it's act in gear and see to maintaining the grounds at the property.

EDITOR – I have been reading, with great interest an article in your paper dated Friday 11 December, where Mr Keith Williams of Kenneth Gardens complains of their overgrown gardens.

Mr Williams is not alone, we are in the same boat as all the other “Gardens” flats which are solely owned by the municipality who are not looking after their assests and

ensuring that their properties are kept in a clean and liveable environment.

I have, recently, sent numerous emails to the department responsible who should be ensuring that suitable contractors have been contracted to keep these properties clean and tidy. I have already witnessed two snakes in the front of our block and one of the other neighbours witnessed one at the back of our block.

The Housing Department has been informed of the situation but a notice that was placed on the wall next to our post boxes stated the three year contract ended this year and the municipality had a problem in the appointment of new contractors due to delays in tender processes. Obviously someone is not doing their job properly.
