I will be claiming costs from the municipality

A motorist said she will be claiming from the municipality for damages to her vehicle.

EDITOR – I became a victim of severe damage to my vehicle yesterday (Monday, 25 A+pril) at around 1.15pm.

Travelling back from Rossburgh licensing department, I was driving along Umbilo Road when I drove into the trench in Umbilo Road.

I suffered two very buckled rims, bruised tyres and other damage to my vehicle.

While taking photos of the trench, numerous vehicles became victim to this ditch in the road. A VW Golf GTi had the front bumper ripped off.

The owner of a Blue Opel Corsa had to wait for a tow truck to tow his vehicle away due to extensive underneath damage.

This trench has apparently been there for more than a week, with no warning signs evident to warn motorists of the danger.

I have had to take my wheels to a repairer to have the rims repaired, tyres replaced, wheel alignment done and so on.

I am furious that the municipality allows this to carry on! I will be claiming from the municipality for costs incurred.
