To the young man in a red Golf

A motorist wants to thank a young man for caring following a recent accident.

EDITOR – On Saturday 21 May at 4.45pm I met with a serious accident at the corner of Windermere and Lambert Roads.

Coming from work I had my 10-year-old son and teenage son with me in my vehicle when the driver of another vehicle suddenly executed a U-turn from the opposite side of the road and slammed right into my vehicle as I was travelling northbound on Windermere Road. I had passed out momentarily and, upon gaining consciousness, everything was hazy. I was completely not in control of my senses as I had experienced massive head trauma besides the other physical injuries. We were then all rushed off to hospital in an ambulance.

The following day my sons told me of a good Samaritan who had nearly been part of this crash but quick thinking on his part saved him from certain involvement. Despite the fact that my vehicle was nearly rammed into his red VW Golf, he nonetheless pulled over to check on us and ran across the road to purchase a bag of ice and a cold drink which helped them to regain their strength.

I want to thank this young man, a hero in my boys' and my eyes. I would like to make a public show of my gratitude by saying 'Young man in the red VW Golf, there are way too few dapper people left in this world. Your act of selflessness, kindness and sincere concern has definitely made an impact on two young boys. May your pathway through this life be paved with good deeds and may God Almighty bless you infinitely. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

This young man could so easily have been angry and just driven away. But he made a conscious choice to help a family in distress. And that's what humanity needs. Kind souls.
