Control your dogs

A Glenmore resident asks neighbours to stop their dogs barking at night out of courtesy to others.

EDITOR – As a resident in the Glenmore area, it has become increasingly alarming at how selfish some residents can be in terms of controlling their dogs.

The incessant and ongoing barking of dogs in the area keeps law-abiding citizens awake at all hours of the night and early hours of the morning.

I have dogs and if they bark I get up, investigate and if they are barking for no sound reason I deal with my dogs out of courtesy to my neighbours, it’s just common sense. Simple courtesy is that if you have a pet dog or a dog for security, firstly keep them in your yard and don’t let them roam the streets all night long.

Secondly, if your dog is barking incessantly have some respect for your fellow neighbour, get up out of your bed or get up off your backside and go investigate what the problem is, if it is nothing, how about a little courtesy for your neighbour and do something about your dog.

Perhaps Berea Mail can also do a piece/editorial on how to deal with dogs that are either lonely that can create incessant barking etc, so that the owners of such dogs can perhaps read how to be a more considerate neighbour. I have tried to address this with a resident in our street and have been subjected to foul language, arrogance and absolute denial on the part of the guilty party, despite me having dealt with this for near on 4 months now and been courteous and polite every step of the way.

A little courtesy and consideration go a long way.
