Thank you, SPCA

The Durban and Coast SPCA came to the aid of a goat which was tied up at a Glenmore property.

EDITOR – If there’s one thing I hate it’s people abusing animals.

I heard horrible sounds from my next door neighbours at the weekend and saw they had tied a poor goat with its leg above its head and just left it there. No water, no food.

I called the SPCA and inspector Lucas arrived and was just awesome in his concern for the poor little goat.
He spoke to the ‘owner’ of the goat and Lucas said he needed to write out a warning.

The man said the goat was to be slaughtered but not on the premises.

Response from SPCA:

Inspector Moloi attended the complaint and found the complainant had already untied the goat and released the leg. He had re-tied it next to the tree.

The goat was sitting down on Inspector Moloi’s arrival. No injuries were noted. A written warning was issued and the goat was moved to a back room on the property where it could be safely confined. Shelter, food and water was provided. A follow up inspection has been scheduled and is to be conducted.

We are so thankful to the public and would not be able to accomplish what we do without these caring citizens acting as our eyes and ears. Educating the public is an important role our inspectors play. It is a sad fact that there are many people out there that don’t know how to properly treat animals or even understand that these animals can feel pain. It is only through education that we can hope to one day make a lasting change for these animals.
