AMAFA should focus on derelict heritage buildings

Half the “heritage buildings” in Durban have been ignored by the heritage society, says a resident.

EDITOR – Please pinch me and tell me I’m dreaming. I now read in the Berea Mail that the heritage society folk are getting their knickers in a knot over the thoughtful and well-executed mural-with-a-message on a Glenwood church wall.

This when it would seem half the “heritage buildings” in Durban have been ignored by the heritage society and allowed to fall into a derelict state.

Someone has initiative, does something creative – and comes in for flack. It reminds me of the Metro cops who patrol the beachfront ticketing “easy targets” for expired licenses instead of getting out there and fighting crime.
