The Tsogo Sun Amashova online entries close on 18 September.

CYCLE enthusiasts from all around the country will be putting their tyres to tar for the highly anticipated Tsogo Sun Amashova Durban Classic on Sunday, 18 October.

Online entries for the cycle race, which takes place from Pietermaritzburg to Durban, close on Friday, 18 September at 11pm sharp, so it’s time to polish those bicycle frames and pump up those tyres and more importantly, get your entries in!

Bright and early at 5.30am on Sunday, 18 October, cyclists will kick off the 35km fun ride from Old Main Road, Lillies Quarter in Hillcrest and the 65km half challenge from Drew Lane in Cato Ridge after which, at 7am, professionals and cycling enthusiasts will set off for the main 106km cycle challenge from the Pietermaritzburg City Hall, with their eye on the prize money of over R100 000.

All races are supported by full road closures and will end at the new finish in Masabalala Yengwa Avenue (NMR Avenue) underneath the bridge which links Mustering Fields and People's Park in Durban, after which the riders will go through to the Suncoast property for a first class hospitality experience.

All cyclists wanting to participate in road cycling events longer than 20km require a license, this is in accordance with the Cycling South Africa rules. There is also a benefit for cyclists entering as the Tsogo Sun Amashova is part of the UCI World Cycling Tour, The amateur Worlds qualifier series, which is sure to attract top seeded national and international riders, giving the race the international status it deserves.

The Tsogo Sun Amashova 106km is seeded by Cycle Events using the SuperSeeding Ladder and cyclists receive their seeding batch a week before the race via email, and sms.

Entries can be done via www.shova.co.za at a cost of only R380 for 106km, R215 for 65km and R150 for 35km with no entries being accepted on the day of the race.

All registration and race number collection will take place at Suncoast on Thursday, 15 October from 1pm to 6pm, Friday, 16 October from 9am to 6pm and on

Saturday, 17 October from 9am to 4pm.
