Cow herd conquers Amashova

The CHOC Cow herd took on the Tsogo Sun Amashova Cycle Classic to raise funds for children with cancer.

THE herd of twenty-five Cows, a fundraising arm of CHOC, successfully conquered the 2015 Amashova cycle race in a mooovellous time of 4h57.

The Cows had to push all the limits in order to get the ‘hefty’ ice cream bike (weighing in at 65kg), generously sponsored by Huberto’s Ice Cream, across the finish line, all in aid of raising awareness and funds to support the little super heroes fighting cancer.

“The crowd support was absolutely incredible and made us cycle faster than any of us had actually thought possible. I cannot speak highly enough of the team of cows who pushed and pulled me across the finish line. I wouldn't have made it up Fox hill or any other hill for that matter,” said Gordon Reid, the Ice Cream Bike Cow.

Iris Varty (aka: Mama Moo) thanked everyone for their support: “The encouragement, team spirit, cheers, applause and incredible welcome received by the herd from the start, all along the route and at the finish was absolutely humbling and we would like to thank each and every one of our supporters for making this race a most memorable event!”
