McGregor scoops another victory

Hank McGregor is still hopeful of series win despite his busy schedule.

HANK McGregor has set his sights on next week’s Dragon Run in Hong Kong after a good run in the 2015 Illovo Suncoast Pirates Wall and Back Surfski Series.

McGregor came from behind after a poor start to take victory in the fifth race last Friday night. The 37 year old explained that he is yet to get a good start in this competition, as he took a big wave to the chest in the very beginning. He said one of his opponents Matthew Bouman had also suffered the same start by being hit by a wave, which allowed McGregor time to get back into the race. McGregor managed to get to the top of the pile halfway through and soon after grabbed the win.

McGregor has now racked up three wins in the series, and it seems that he has yet another series win in his sights. “I would love to win the Wall and Back title again,” he said. “Hopefully I can fit two more races in over the next few weeks.”

“I’ve got the Dragon Run in Hong Kong next weekend before I come back and race Ozzie Gladwin, 50 Miler, SA Surfski Champs and the Cape Point Challenge in the weeks after that, so I’ve got some pretty big weeks of racing ahead of me,“ he explained.

Despite his busy schedule, the decorated McGregor is still hoping for the series win saying, “If I could win the series title with all the racing that I’ll be doing, that would be really awesome.”
