Rain cancels play for ‘Quins
Persistent rain at the weekend resulted in Challenge League games being cancelled.

ON account of persistent rain at the weekend, the Durban And District Cricket Cricket Union (DDCU) announced the cancellation of all cricket matches.
Although Umbilo Harlequins Cricket Club had applied comprehensive protective coverage of their prepared wicket at 3.30pm on Saturday afternoon for its KwaZulu Natal Cricket Union’s stream one Challenge League match against Verulam at Harlequins, spasmodic rain during the course of the morning with a bleak forecast for the afternoon session left the respective clubs with no alternative but to agree to a cancellation of the match.
As a consequence Quins played no cricket during the past weekend, but earned two points for the drawn Challenge League match. No points will be awarded for all other Quins teams under the auspices of DDCU.
According to a Harlequins representative, with the exception of vehicles performing field and asset maintenance, no vehicles are permitted within the bollard areas on the playing fields. He urged responsible residents who observe any vehicles on the cricket fields not performing maintenance to report such incidents, as the club will be appreciative of such public support.
The final round of league cricket matches for the year, but not the final round of the season, will be played on Sunday 13 December. Quins' first team take on a composite team called Southern Natal at Creston College in a 50 over stream one Challenge League encounter at 9am. Quins second team have a 40 over Challenge reserve match at Harlequins main oval at 1 pm. All other teams have byes.
