The very proud and happy 22-year-old was selected to represent South Africa recently at the Down Syndrome World Table Tennis Championships in Bloemfontein.
The competition was extremely tough as representatives from around the world participated.
Her first competitive event of this nature was in October where she represented KZN at the games in Secunda, her performances winning her the opportunity to represent her country. The South African Table Tennis Team won a silver medal and South Africa won gold for a first place overall.
Emily's passion for table tennis came as a surprise to her parents, but she plays at her school, Sunfield Home School in Verulam, where she is a boarder.
Her sports teacher from Sunfield, Mr Niren Kathuravaloo has been instrumental in her success.
