Karate world champ visits KZN
Japanese karate master Murakami Manabu will hold workshops in and around Durban next week.
TWO time world karate champion supreme master Murakami Manabu will conduct several technical workshops for local KZN karate students from 28 April to 3 May.
The workshops will be hosted by SKISA at the Tongaat Sports Centre and a special advanced Masters camp for brown/black belts will be held at the DUT sports complex.
The Japanese Maestro who is the chief instructor of the “Kanazawa” SKIF world organisation, will share his special brand of “all styles” traditional karate self- defence techniques that won him two world titles in 1991 and 1994.
Master Murakami, who is one of the world’s most sought after Japanese instructors, travels to an average of 40 countries around the globe each year conducting technical workshops and advanced seminars.
Chief instructor of SKISA, Hanshi Sonny Pillay, expressed his delight at having secured the visit of the World champion to KZN: “I sincerely believe this is a wonderful opportunity for our local KZN karate students to experience first-hand the latest fighting techniques that our visiting maestro will focus on during his workshop moreover the benefits of training with master Murakami are tenfold.
He urged all karate instructors and students, irrespective of style or association, to take the fullest advantage of this rare opportunity to train with one of the most revered Japanese karate teachers in the world today.
