Synchro swimmer has sights set on world events
Giulia Torino is taking part in two international synchronised swimming competitions this July.
LOCAL synchronised swimmer, Giulia Torino, (15), has qualified for two age groups to represent SA in international synchronised swimming competitions.
Guilia left for Russia on 4 July, where she will represent SA at the FINA Junior Worlds Championship in Kazan, Russia, in the 15 to 18 year age group. She will go on to take part in the Mediterranean Cup in Netanya, Israel (13 to 15 year age group). She will be the SA soloist.
In 2014, Giulia (13) represented SA in Greece for the Mediterranean Cup, and competed in Australia in 2015 at the Commonwealth Festival at 14 years of age.
Giulia won solo and figures events in her age group (13 to 15 years) at both national competitions held in December 2015 in Port Elizabeth and in April this year in Durban. The talent squad was named in December and was ratified by SSA after the April Youth and Senior Nationals results were announced.
