EXPLORE the outdoors with local hikers this weekend.
Durban Ramblers Hiking Club will hike at Beachwood Mangrove Swamps on Saturday 23 July.
Meet at 1.45pm at the Pick ’n Pay Hyper Durban North (corner of the parking lot closest to the M4), to leave at 2pm.
Guided tour of the Beachwood Mangrove Nature Reserve. Donation of R20 towards the Conservancy. The last two hours of the hike will be along the beach.
It is essential for hikers to stay together in the group along the beach for safety reasons.
Grade 1 – easy (beach walking); distance is ±8km.

On Sunday 24 July the group will hike at Rocky Bay (Scottburgh).
This is a new hike and great for winter as it is almost totally exposed for the whole length. Terrain is easy and mainly through sugarcane.
Hat and water essential and binoculars in case you are lucky enough to spot a whale.
If weather is good, take your costume to swim after the hike or have drinks in the pub.
Meet in the road at Glenwood Village, 397 Che Guevara (Moore) Road at 7.30am or Rocky Bay resort in time to start hiking at 8.30am.
Petrol sharing R45; entrance fee R20.
Grade 2; distance is ±19km.
Hikers must phone leader in advance if they intend joining hike.
