Good games by Quins teams

Despite two teams' matches being cancelled due to rain, Harlequins Cricket Club's 2nd and 6th teams won their matches.

THE 50 over challenge league match scheduled at Harlequins was abandoned due to rainy conditions on Sunday morning.

The fourth team’s match was also abandoned at Badulla drive due to poor field condition. However, the second team played a 40 over challenge reserve match at Danville Park against DHS Rhythm 2 on Sunday afternoon. Quins 2 accrued a commendable total of 143 runs being all out in 29.1 overs. Opening batsman Sheldon Spindler top scored with 47 runs and Mark Kritzinger compiled 21 runs. DHS Rhythm 2 responded with 59 runs in 25.1 overs. Quins 2 won the match by 84 runs.

The sixth team played Chatsworth Sporting 6 at Harlequins 1. Quins 6 cranked up a formidable tally of 204 runs despite the slow outfield. Jason Rouse top scored with 60 runs, Chase Garner managed 52 runs, Ian Karg hit 20 runs and Gavin Hazel made 26 runs. Sporting 6 were dismissed for 33 runs in 13 overs primarily through a splendid display of accurately delivered, medium paced seam bowling by Darryl Lavendar who claimed six wickets for 25 runs in six overs. Mention must be made about Zane Gaze’s superlative one handed catch at square leg to dismiss an opposition batsman. Quins 6 won by 171 runs.

No cricket has been scheduled for this weekend, however all teams except the first side will be engaged in league matches on 5 and 6 November.

Training for U11 juniors will be on Thursday at 5pm at Harlequins.
