Fit and fine Waseem heads for world champs
A Sherwood resident, Waseem Salie will represent South Africa in the 2016 International Federation of Body Building and Fitness World Fitness Championship

SHERWOOD resident, Waseem Salie, will represent South Africa in the 2016 IFBB (International Federation of Body Building and Fitness) World Fitness Championship in Bialystok, Poland on 11 to 14 November.
The championship is open to IFBB-affiliated National Federations from all over the world. Waseem, who is ranked number one in his division, will compete in the men’s physique category (up to and including 174cm). He came out tops in all his entry events, which led to his selection in the coveted World Fitness Championship.
The top three athletes of all categories at the 2016 World Fitness Championships in Bialystok will become IFBB Elite card holders and will have the opportunity to participate in the IFBB Elite World Cup grand final in May 2017, with prize money valued at a whopping USD6000.
Waseem says he is committed to succeed as puts his body through a rigorous training routine every dy and follows a strict diet.
“I was always athletic growing up and when I completed school I was motivated to push myself both physically and mentally. I wanted to be in the best condition – health wise and aesthetically. I’ve been training seriously for the past three years but my competitive career only began this year.”
Although Waseem has worked hard to prepare for the World Championships, he is still able to complete his a final year Marketing and Business Management degree at Damelin Overport, which he says has fitted perfectly into his schedule.
“Studying at Damelin has been very convenient with lectures planned well, and I also have enough time in my final year to train and pursue my dream”, he said.
