Siya conquers Comrades
Siyabonga Ngidi finished the Comrades Marathon in a time of 9h52.
SIYABONGA Ngidi, the maintenance worker at Livingstone Primary School, notched up another Comrades finish on Sunday 4 June.
Siyabonga said it was a tough run for him this year, but he was happy to have finished in a time of 9h52.
“I started running Comrades in 2004, but his was my toughest run! My stomach was sore before I started the race and there were times during the run that I didn’t think I’d make it, but I kept strong,” he said.
Siyabonga said he trained hard for the race, and trained by running the 35km to work from his home in Ndwedwe to work and back again three times a week.
“It’s a non-stop run and is good training! I will take these next two weeks off to rest, then start training again for next year,” he said, aiming to beat his 2008 best time of 7h38 at the next Comrades Marathon.
“I want to make 30 Comrades, so as long as my legs will carry me, I’m going to keep on running, I love it!” he said.
