Take a hike

Get out and about in nature this weekend with a local hiking club.

LOCAL hiking clubs have some exciting outdoor hikes planned for this weekend.

Durban Ramblers Hiking Club will hike at Pigeon Valley (Glenwood) on Saturday, 3 March.
Meet at 1.45pm at Stella Sports Club, (175 Helen Joseph (Davenport) Road), Glenwood.
Some street walking to the pretty little Pigeon Valley Nature Reserve, with some steep hills going up to St Augustine’s Hospital and the University. Drinks afterwards at a nearby pub.
Grade 1 – easy to moderate (two up-hills); distance is ±6km.

On Sunday, 4 March, the group will hike in Westbrook.
Hike up and down the hills, across a nursery, through some bush and along a bit of beach. Hike will finish around lunch time. Optional drinks/lunch at Beach Bums afterwards. Petrol sharing R20.
Grade 2; distance is ±15km.

AMBLERS Hiking Club will hike at Palmiet Nature Reserve in Old New Germany Road on Saturday, 3 March.

Meet at 5.45am at the parking lot at Palmiet Nature Reserve, and hike this awesome nature reserve with refreshments after at Nino’s in the shopping centre in Jan Hofmeyer Road. Contact Lorraine on 082 726 7787.

At 2pm on Sunday, 4 March, the group will hike at Krantzkloof Nature Reserve. Hike down to the stream and to the base of Kloof Falls and back. Meet at the Kloof Falls picnic site, Kloof Falls Drive, Kloof. Reserve entrance R30. Contact Lawson on 071 460 3529.
