Topham too strong for Quins
Harlequins Cricket Club's first team lost to Topham in a match on Sunday.
FIVE of Umbilo Harlequins Cricket Club’s senior teams were involved in league match activity at the weekend.
On Sunday, 11 November, the first team versed Topham in a 50-over a side promotion stream one match at Harlequins. Harlequins ended up with a well below par tally of just 84 runs in 30 overs. Top scores were a baker’s dozen by Fayaz Safri and just a dozen by Mubeen Noorgat.
Aside from two dynamic spells of penetrative fast bowling by Kevin Kettle who captured the top three wickets for 26 runs off eight overs and some ultra-economical seam bowling by Yusuf Godil, who got a wicket for just 10 runs off six overs, all other bowlers were pretty ordinary in performance, allowing Topham to surpass Quins total in 25 overs. Topham won by three wickets.

Other team results: Quins 6ths vs DHS Rhythm 8: Quins 6 won by seven wickets. Quins 2nds vs Umlazi: Umlazi scored 188 runs, Quins lost the match by 77 runs. Quins 3rds vs Chatsworth Sporting 3: Sporting scored 123 runs, Quins 3 won by eight wickets. Quins 4ths vs INK Ntuzuma: Quins 4 won by 66 runs.
Aside from the third team, all sides have league matches during this coming weekend.
There will be no more coaching sessions for juniors until Friday, 30 November. League matches for juniors will start in December.
Practice sessions for seniors will be held at the Harlequins nets on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4.30pm.
