Stella Football Club hosts registration day
Youngsters and their parents attended the Stella Football Club registration day in Glenwood on Sunday.
SCORES of youngsters and their parents attended the Stella Football Club registration day in Glenwood on Sunday. New chairman at the club Darren Katzer said they were anticipating 300 kids at the registration drive.
“Last year we were very close to that number, unfortunately because we have only one field we can only take in a certain number of children.
“Last year we had a number of youngsters from the area who couldn’t afford to pay and it is very difficult to run the club without money. So what we have done is try to secure sponsorships to subsidise those children who cannot afford to play at Stella. We have some great sponsors on board and are appealing to local businesses in the area to sponsor us, no donation is too big or too small,” he said, adding that the club did not want to turn anyone away.
“As a club we made the decision to host more community upliftment and wellness days. I have also committed to doing three or four sessions in the townships,” said Katzer.
