Evita comes to the stage

The life of Eva Peron is brought to the stage by DUT drama students in the stage production of Evita.

THE Drama Department at DUT in partnership with the Playhouse Company is staging Tim Rice / Andrew Lloyd Webber’s iconic musical, Evita, at the Playhouse Drama from 24 to 31 August.

The story looks at the life of Eva Peron, known fondly as Evita, an extravagant and outspoken public figure who was an Argentinean political leader in her own right, married to Argentine President Juan Peron. The musical follows her life from a restless teenager, who after a series of strategic love affairs, eventually became one of the most watched global icons by her death in 1952.

The musical also follows an historically inaccurate connection between Evita and Che Guevara – known as “Che” who plays the role of commentator and narrator in the production.

Tickets are R60 throughout, children R15, scholar block booking R10 and students with ID R25.Booking is through Computicket / Playhouse box-office. For more info, contact Lebohang on 031-3732194
