A free viewing of the film Dakota 38 will be at Silver Vause Centre on Friday 26 September.
A VIEWING of the film Dakota 38, a powerful story of reconciliation, forgiveness and healing, is on Friday 26 September at Imbokodo Conference Centre, Unit 9 Silver Vause Centre, Silverton Road, at 6.30pm.
In the spring of 2005, Lakota spiritual leader, Jim Miller, had a dream where he rode 550km on horseback. He eventually got to a river bank in Mankato, Minnesota, where he saw 38 of his own ancestors hanged.
Jim soon discovered that he had dreamt of the largest mass hanging in US history, ordered by Abraham Lincoln in 1862. In December 2008, Jim and many others retraced the route of his dream on horseback as a means of bringing healing, forgiveness and reconciliation to all. Dakota 38 is a feature length documentary film which tells the story of this journey.
