Cyndi plays the blues

LOCAL musician, Cyndi Kritzinger, once again performed at the recent Durban International Blues Festival hosted at Zack’s, Wilson’s Wharf.

This is the 10th year that the festival has been held and both local and international artists performed.

This was the third time in a row that Cyndi was given the opportunity to perform. and her song choice included some old and new tunes with both international and local content.

She opened with Laurie Levine’s Lost and Found, which set the standard for the evening. She followed that with Bang Bang Boom Boom by Beth Hart, and Bonnie Rait’s Let’s give them something to talk about, played on her fender stratocaster (electric guitar) with some tasteful licks, brought the classic blues back. This was followed by an up-tempo rendition of Muddy Water’s I’ve got my mojo working.

By this time the audience were well and truly enjoying their blues experience, even the pouring rain couldn’t extinguish their applause.

To finish her set she brought the tempo way down and played a subtle, finger picking version of Adele’s To make you feel my love.

Cyndi was accompanied by Mark Swannepoel on drums, Roly Fisher on guitar and her father, Mark on bass.
