Gardens host musical legends in concert
Johnny Clegg and Ladysmith Black Mambazo will perform together for the first time at the next Music at the Lake concert.
TWO iconic South African acts, Johnny Clegg and Ladysmith Black Mambazo, will share the stage for the first time at the Old Mutual Music at the Lake concert at the Durban Botanic Gardens on Sunday, 9 November.
Returning from his nine week tour of the USA and Canada, Johnny Clegg will be performing hits from his recent album, Human, as well as some of his fans' all-time favourites.
Sharing the same stage will be four times Grammy Award-winning trailblazers, Ladysmith Black Mambazo. These music masterminds are embarking on a new era as Thami Shabalala, the 38-year-old son of recently retired founder Joseph Shabalala, takes over the reins as the group’s new lead singer. The 12 member ensemble now also includes this talented family's third generation, Joseph's grandson, Babuyile Shabalala.
Concert-goers will witness history when Johnny Clegg performs for an impressive 90 minutes, featuring Ladysmith Black Mambazo on three of his songs. Mambazo will stay true to their melodic harmonies for 45 minutes before Clegg joins them on stage for a duet of one of their hits.
First on stage is Ladysmith Black Mambazo at 3pm followed by Johnny Clegg at 4pm.

Children between eight and 12 pay R50, and under eight are free. All children are welcome at the KidZone for some extra fun and games.
Drinks, cooler boxes and picnic baskets are welcome.
