Reaching for the stars
Ten young musicians will wow audiences with their talent at a concert at Durban Jewish Centre.
TEN of the province’s most outstanding young performers will be showcased at KZN Rising Stars 2014, presented by Friends of Music and the SA Society of Music Teachers on Tuesday 2 December at 7.30pm at the Durban Jewish Centre.
The programme ranges from Mendelssohn and Mozart to Shostakovich and Gershwin. Sarah Camp, 16, a pianist and cellist from St Mary’s DSG, will open the evening, followed by siblings Natalie Holman, 19, and Matthew, 16, of the Roseway Waldorf School, on violin.
Next will be pianist Jessica Huang, 17, of Crawford North Coast, Nina Kolev, 17, a violinist from St Mary’s, Daniel Bedi, 16, a violinist and pianist from Kearsney, Arianna Carini, 18, a guitarist from Eden College, Saskia Dyson, a singer from Northlands Girls and Si Jia Wu, 18, a pianist from Durban Girls College.
The concert will close with Ewan Slabber, 17, a pianist from Glenwood High.
