Mi Casa for Music at the Lake
Mi Casa will perform at the next Music at the Lake concert at Durban Botanic Gardens.
THEY have taken the local dance scene by storm and bagged armfuls of awards, and now Mi Casa are bringing their potent deep house grooves to the Old Mutual Music at the Lake concert at the Durban Botanic Gardens on Sunday, 15 March.
One of the country’s premier dance acts, Mi Casa will treat Durbanites to a relaxing autumn afternoon of warm house beats peppered with a jazz trumpet and a twist of soul.
Vocalist J’Something, trumpeter Mo-T and producer Dr Duda make up the triple shot of awesomeness that is this wildly popular chart-topping band.
They scooped three South African Music Awards – including Record of the Year – for their self-titled debut album, as well as the SAMA for Best Dance Album for their follow-up release, Su Casa. Adding popular appeal to industry recognition, Mi Casa were also named “coolest music stars” in the Sunday Times Generation Next survey.
Well-travelled abroad and in Africa, they have opened for international acts such as Drake, John Legend and Jamiroquai – and even performed at Barack Obama’s second presidential inauguration.
Take your cooler boxes, picnic baskets and blankets and come and enjoy a chilled afternoon of fantastic music at the beautiful Durban Botanic Gardens. Refreshments will also be on sale. Children can enjoy entertainment galore in the supervised Kidzone, with great fun and games on offer.
Tickets at R140 are available online at www.webtickets.co.za; tickets cost R160 at the gate. Children aged eight to 12 pay R60 and under-eights get in free.
