Get down to the Retro Bazaar
The monthly Retro Bazaar will be at Cool Runnings this Sunday.
IF you feel like doing something different this weekend why not make your way down to Cool Runnings for this Sunday’s Retro Bazaar.
This is a market where local talent gathers to sell locally made T-shirts, bags, jewellery, clothes, local CDs, TV games and more. The Retro Bazaar is run by RawDeal Media on the last Sunday of every month.
Ninja X who came up with the idea said the market was a way to showcase talent in Durban. “I was inspired by the fact that we spend our lives trying to hustle. Through the company I realised we needed to work with our artistic side and help people who are talented in creative things such as handiwork and performing. We wanted to help people get ahead and make a living. We are getting together and putting money in each other’s pockets” she said.
The market started at Cool Runnings in October 2014 and Ninja X said it was the perfect venue as it was relaxed and had a good vibe. Organisers have a permit to close off the street and a stage is set up for performers to showcase their musical talent on the day. “People who have performed here have been booked for shows, so it’s good exposure!” she said.
Traders pay R200 to sell their items on the day and the profit is theirs. “We provide tables and clothes rails and the talented traders sell their goods” she said.
Ninja X is supported by her team Annalyzer who was the performer at the first Retro Bazaar Phindile Xaba Lindiwe Ntuli and Marcia Buwa.
