Jazz galore at UKZN
UKZN's Centre for Jazz and Popular Music will host two events next week.
THE Centre for Jazz and Popular Music at UKZN will host two events next week.
On Tuesday 28 March there will be the Jokes and Jazz event hosted by stand-up comedian Troy Tesla at 6pm.
Jokes and Jazz is a new comedy series designed to celebrate the merging of two art forms that are traditionally not known for conflating, comedy and jazz.
There will be a stellar line-up of comedians that include the well-loved comedian Masood Boomgaard as well as Tyson Heffer and Kwanda Radebe.
On Wednesday 29 March the highly anticipated self-titled album launch of Skokiana will be at 6pm.

Skokiana will perform songs from the album, composed and arranged by Dr Sazi Dlamini. The CD will be available for purchase on the night for R100, and will also soon be available online at iTunes, Google Play and other online streaming services like Deezer and Spotify.
Skokiana was founded in 1991 as a quartet, playing in the jazz-influenced township tradition. Over more than two decades Skokiana’s line-up has included outstanding musicians. Over the years the longevity of Skokiana has been sustained by student talent selected into UKZN’s music studies programmes.
Tickets for both shows are R70, R45 for pensioners and R20 for students. To book contact 031 260 3385. Tickets are available at the door.
