Jazzy sounds to chase away Friday 13th blues
The performance is part of the Concerts SA Venue Circuit which aims to foster a love and support for live music in our communities.
AUDIENCES are in for a treat as the Demiurge Quintet, featuring Zibusiso Makhatini, takes to the stage at The Jazzy Rainbow on Friday 13 October.
Makhathini is a pianist, composer and producer born and bred in Estcourt, Kwa-Zulu Natal. His love for music became evident at the tender age of seven. Fond memories have been documented in childhood photos where he is fiddling with musical instruments and probing the existence of pitch, melody and harmony. Coming from a family of self-taught musicians inspired him to pursue music and after matriculating there was only one career wish for the young Zibusiso- studying music. He enrolled to study jazz and popular music at the University of KwaZulu-Natal.
Apart from being a performer, Makhathini is an activist in the South African music scene. He has committed his life to the improvement and well-being of South African arts and orally engages with the youth of South Africa on socio-economic issues, to change the stereotype of music being seen as just a hobby.
Doors open 7pm, the Jazzy Rainbow is at 93 Smiso Nkwanyana Rd,Morningside. Tickets are R40 including a free drink for students (T&C). For bookings call 031-3038398 or email jazzyrainbow@mweb.co.za
