Refreshed Audi A4 launches in South Africa
The facelifted Audi A4 model boasts new tech as well as upgraded design elements.
Following its official reveal in 2019, Audi is introducing its facelifted A4 model that boasts new tech as well as upgraded design elements.
The new Audi A4 joins the South African market with three petrol derivatives, 35, 40, and S4. The diesel variants will join the line-up in 2021.
On the outside, the refreshed Audi A4 comes with a broader and flatter Singleframe grille, standard LED headlights that can be had in dissimilar flavours.
The range-opening A4 35 TFSI features low beam, high beam and daytime running lights in LED technology.
The 40 TFSI and S4 feature a higher version of LED including a different daytime running light design and dynamic indicators for the rear; also available optionally is the top-of-the-line Matrix LED headlights with fully automatic high beam.
The equipment line concept is equally new: standard, Advanced and S line are now available for the exterior, not to mention the independent look of the S model with the standard high gloss styling package to accentuate its exterior look.
Customers can choose from 12 paint colours, including a new Terra Grey colour option.
When it comes to the wheel options, 17” size is configured as standard on the entry trim line and an 18” standard wheel size on the Advanced and S line trims. There is an option to upgrade to 19” for a further sportier look.
The Audi S4 offers 19” wheels as standard with a choice of three designs. Inside, there is a large new MMI touch display, the control centre for the new operating system. Interior customisation to standard seating is available in a variety of leather/leatherette colour combinations.
The S line interior package can be combined freely with the exterior lines and comes with Fine Nappa leather with S embossing.
While ambient LED interior lighting is standard, the contour/ambient lighting package adds highlights to the interior in the dark for a very premium finish and is included as part of the Technology Package.
Audi will be offering the A4 model line with three turbocharged engines in South Africa. Their power outputs range from 110 kW to 260 kW – from the Audi A4 35 TFSI up to the Audi S4 TFSI.
Two engine variants (A4 35 TFSI and 40 TFSI) feature a mild-hybrid system based on 12 volts.
Speaking of the S4, it features a turbocharged V6 engine with 260 kW of power and 500 Nm of torque as well as an eight-speed Tiptronic transmission plus a Quattro system.
It hurdles from a standstill to 100 km/h n 4.7 seconds before hitting a governed top speed of 250 km/h. Power outputs for the range can be found in the table below.
