St Dom’s honours top students

The learners were honoured with the school’s prestigious Honours Blazer

St Dominic’s Catholic School for Girls rewarded a number of their Grade 11 learners during the school’s awards assembly at the end of November.

The learners, who were honoured with the school’s prestigious Honours Blazer, obtained full colours in at least two of the three disciplines they were awarded on. The disciplines were sport, cultural and academic.

To qualify for the honours blazer, the girls were also required to have a number of community service hours.

The following girls were awarded their honours blazer:
Katja de Freitas (public speaking and running)
Kayla Richardson (debating and diving)
Olivia Smargiasso (public speaking and running)
Busisiwe Ndlovu (drum majorettes and steel band)
Khanyi Mbele (drum majorettes and steel band)
Marina da Costa (tennis and steel band)
Andreia Carvalho (running and steel band)

An honours blazer is also awarded to the head girl and her deputies by virtue of their office.

Kaylyn Leach: full colours for swimming
Tayla Ashton: full colours for swimming
Bianca Ferreirinha: full colours for diving
Kayla Richardson: full colours for diving; half colours for public speaking
Pabala Mhlatsi: half colours for diving
Samukelisiwe Dube: half colours for athletics
Lucy Msiska: half colours for hockey and steel band
Celeste Lewis: full colours for choir and half colours for hockey
Ashleigh Drummond: full colours for tennis
Marina da Costa: full colours for tennis and steel band
Ntokozo Mkhize: full colours for drum majorettes
Unathi Ngwenya: half colours for drum majorettes
Shumani Malaka: full colours for media
Lwazi Mthambama: half colours for media and marimba
Sibusiswe Ziqubu: half colours for media and choir.
