Aspiring artists now have their own corner of creativity in Reiger Park

Rayshes Nuwenhuis, the founder of Deeplink Studios, has launched a platform called Thee Exposure Corner, where they showcase and celebrate local talent.

In the heart of Reiger Park, a powerful initiative is taking root, transforming the lives of aspiring artists and the community.

Rayshes Nuwenhuis, the founder of Deeplink Studios, has launched a platform called Thee Exposure Corner, where they showcase and celebrate local talent.

About three months ago, Rayshes transformed his backyard into a lively performance space, creating a free platform for artists to express themselves every Saturday at 16:00.

“I wanted to give people an opportunity to share their talent without fear of judgment. Music has the power to uplift, inspire and bring people together.”

Rayshes said Thee Exposure Corner is a haven for many, particularly troubled teens who may feel sidelined by society.

“We created an environment where artists can gather, perform live on Facebook and connect.”

Rayshes said the platform has become a cornerstone of the community, thanks to the efforts of a dedicated team, including his wife, Lesley-Ann, Levi Peterson and Tyrique Marsh.

A partner in this venture, Amardeo Cochrane, manages their social media presence to expand the reach of each performance to a wider audience.

The success stories emerging from Thee Exposure Corner are numerous.

“Local artists have found new confidence and direction. Some have shared their struggles and said this platform has rekindled their passion for music.

“Every week, we witness the joy of artists who might have otherwise been overlooked.”

However, the journey is not without its challenges. As the platform grows, so does the need for resources.

Rayshes is seeking donations to fund essential items, such as instruments, video equipment and venue upgrades.

“Every little bit helps. All funds will go directly toward supporting artist development and enhancing our community engagement.”

Giving back
It all started for Rayshes in 2014 when Lesley-Ann gifted him a studio bundle for his birthday.

“This ignited a love for music production that led to successful collaborations with renowned artists in the Afrikaans amapiano scene.

“Hitmaker Meneer Cee recorded many of his popular tracks, earning a gold plaque.”

Thee Exposure Corner is now Rayshes’s way of giving back.

“This is more than music; it’s about community and hope,” he said.

Looking ahead, Rayshes envisions workshops, master classes and networking events that will further support artists on their journeys.
