Reiger Park SAPS arrested a 21-year-old suspect in Reiger Park in connection with a truck hijacking on November, 4.
The victim, a truck driver, was targeted on a premises in September Street while he was delivering bricks.
According to the SAPS spokesperson, Constable Johannes Msimanga, the driver was approached by three unknown males.
“It is alleged that one of the assailants pointed a firearm at the driver while the other two searched him, stealing two cellphones, R120 in cash and the keys to the truck before fleeing the scene.
“Police were alerted and quickly contacted the truck owner, who provided them with the coordinates from the vehicle’s tracking system.
“Officers from Reiger Park SAPS and EMPD responded and traced the coordinates to recover the hijacked truck in Delmore Park.”

Msimanga said upon arrival the police saw five males fleeing. However, one suspect was found inside the truck.
“He was found with the stolen truck keys in his pocket, an imitation firearm and one live round of ammunition.
“The suspect was immediately arrested on charges of truck hijacking, possession of unlicensed live ammunition and possession of a firearm.”
The arrested individual is expected to appear in Boksburg Magistrate’s Court soon.
