Daughters of Saint Anne Sodality, East Rand Deanery, extended a compassionate hand to the House of Mercy Drug and Rehabilitation Centre by donating much-needed essentials on December 6.
Among the items were bed linen, cutlery, and tablecloths, which will greatly benefit the centre’s residents.
Thembi Lesenya, a representative of the East Rand Deanery’s Daughters of Saint Anne, said the initiative is part of their annual outreach programme where they identify schools, centres, or NPOs in need.
“We then nominate them and learn more about their requirements.
“This year, we chose the House of Mercy and made donations for the things they need,” she said.
Lesenya shared how they came to know about the centre: “I did not know about them until one of our church members told us about it.

“We then visited their premises and learned more about the incredible work they do.”
Monica Mashiane, the director of House of Mercy, expressed her heartfelt gratitude for the support.
“To the Daughters of Saint Anne Solidarity, the House of Mercy is overwhelmed with gratitude for the generous donations of bedding to our centre.
“Your kindness and compassion have brought warmth and comfort to our clients, who are working hard to overcome their struggles with addiction.”

Mashiane added, “The donations are a tangible expression of God’s love and care for those who are struggling.
“It reminds us that we are not alone in this journey and that there are people who genuinely care about the well-being of others.
“We are grateful for your partnership and support. Your gift will help us continue to provide a safe and nurturing environment for our patients to heal and recover. God bless you and your organisation.”
