FOLLOW UP: Urban Ruins aims to empower the youth

Viljoen emphasised the need for community support to ensure the programme's success.

Urban Ruins, under the leadership of CEO Clayton Viljoen, is set to launch an innovative training and employment programme designed to tackle unemployment and empower the youth.

The programme will officially kick off on January 13, offering participants vital skills and job placement support.

Viljoen said the programmes include three key courses: business ethics, sales as well as basic computer and office administration skills.

Participants will also receive assistance in creating professional CVs, ITC checks and, if necessary, criminal background checks.

“Urban Ruins’ call centre will play a pivotal role in helping participants secure employment, bridging the gap between training and job opportunities.

“This initiative is about closing the circle. We are not just equipping individuals with skills; we are actively helping them find work.

“Our goal is to empower the youth and unemployed, helping them transition to self-sufficiency and uplifting the community as a whole,” said Viljoen.

He emphasised the need for community support to ensure the programme’s success.

“We are appealing for donations of computers or second-hand laptops to enhance the programme’s reach and provide participants with the tools they need.

“The programme is a lifeline for those who feel left behind. By working together, we can change lives and help the down-and-out become self-reliant,” added Viljoen.
