Two decades of hard work and dedication

For 20 years, Vianito Tivane and Alfiado Macuacua have kept Boksburg High’s grounds pristine and its spirit strong.

Boksburg High School is beaming with pride as two of its most dedicated staff members, Vianito Tivane and Alfiado Macuacua, celebrate twenty years of service this year.

Since joining the school in 2005, these two remarkable groundsmen have played an integral role in shaping the school’s landscape, both physically and in spirit.

For two decades, Vianito and Alfiado have arrived at the school before the first bell rings, ensuring that the fields, gardens and school grounds are pristine.

Their commitment has not gone unnoticed as the school has come to appreciate the beauty and order they bring to the campus every day.

Hard work and passion
According to Vianito, maintaining the school’s grounds is more than just a job, it is a calling.

“We take pride in what we do because this school is like a second home to us. Watching the learners grow and thrive in an environment that we help maintain is rewarding. The school’s success feels like our success,” he shared.

Alfiado echoed his colleague’s sentiment, recalling how much the school has changed over the years.

“When we started, some of the trees were just saplings and now they provide shade for hundreds of learners. It’s like watching something you care for grow strong over time,” he said.

Their roles extend far beyond mowing lawns and trimming hedges.

They have become mentors and role models for some learners, teaching them about responsibility, teamwork and the value of hard work.

Over the years, they have built strong relationships with learners, many of whom greet them warmly in the corridors or stop by to lend a helping hand during break times.

Overcoming challenges together
The journey has not always been easy. From harsh weather conditions to maintaining large sports fields in preparation for school events, the duo has faced their fair share of challenges.

Yet, their perseverance and teamwork have ensured that the school’s grounds remain a source of pride for everyone at Boksburg High.

“Some days are harder than others, but we always find motivation in each other and in the learners Their appreciation keeps us going,” said Vianito.

The school’s principal and staff recognise the duo’s invaluable contribution.

To honour their 20 years of service, Boksburg High School is planning a special celebration to acknowledge their dedication and commitment.
Special tribute
The school’s principal, Enoch Thango, expressed his appreciation for the two men who have become part of the very fabric of the school.

“Vianito and Alfiado are not just staff members; they are family.

“Their work ethic, kindness and loyalty have inspired all of us. They remind us daily that every role in a school is important and that passion and pride in one’s work make all the difference.”

Looking to the future
Even after twenty years, the two show no signs of slowing down. They remain as dedicated as ever, looking forward to continuing their work and inspiring the next generation of students.

“We will keep doing what we love for as long as we can. This school is our home and we are grateful to be part of its story,” they said

They added that they are not planning to leave the school until they retire.
