A Dawn Park family’s hope burns bright as the search for missing father John Shabangu continues more than a month after his disappearance.
After more than a month without answers, the family of John Shabangu from Dawn Park refuses to give up hope.
Shabangu disappeared without a trace over four weeks ago, but his loved ones remain steadfast in their belief that he will return home.
For his wife, Happy Shabangu, every day is a test of faith and courage.
“We have not lost hope until we know otherwise; we choose to believe that John is alive and will come back to us.”
Despite the pain and uncertainty, the Shabangu family continues to draw strength from their community and each other. They have been distributing missing person posters, reaching out on social media, and working closely with police to keep the search alive.
“There are moments when the silence is unbearable, but remembering our love for him strengthens us. Hope keeps us going.”
The family urges anyone with information to come forward.
“Even the smallest detail could bring us closer to finding him,” Thandeka said.

John Shabangu, a 49-year-old resident of Dawn Park, has been missing since February 27.
He was last seen leaving his home to visit friends in Vosloorus.
His vehicle was hijacked and recovered, but John was found nowhere. Suspicious transactions from his bank account have raised concerns about his safety.
The family is offering a R20 000 reward for information leading to his safe return. The Elsburg Police Station is handling the case.
