Fire claims lives of four children in Boksburg

Residents are reminded to call the Emergency Services Call Centre at 011 458 0911 for any life-threatening emergencies.

Four children lost their lives on the evening of June 27 when a devastating fire broke out in Villa Liza.

The City’s Disaster and Emergency Management Services spokesperson, Maswazi Mdluli, said emergency services were alerted to the fire at 20:35 and responded promptly.
“Upon arrival, firefighters found the shack completely engulfed in flames, with community members frantically trying to extinguish the blaze. Despite their efforts, the fire had already claimed the lives of the young victims.

“A search and recovery operation led to the discovery of the four children, whose bodies were burned beyond recognition. Gauteng Medical Services declared all four deceased at the scene. The cause of the fire remains unknown,” said Mdluli.
Dawn Park SAPS said they are investigating the cause of the fire.

In response to the incident, the City of Ekurhuleni Emergency Services urges residents to exercise caution when using heating devices, especially during the winter months.
