The investigation into the discovery of a foetus in the Boksburg CBD last month remains ongoing, with the police again appealing to the public to provide them with any information that may help bring answers.
A passerby found the foetus on the corner of Leeuwpoort and Joubert streets on July 9.
Boksburg police spokesperson, Sergeant Ntsako Ledwaba, confirmed that the remains were taken to a state mortuary immediately after the incident.
“The foetus is still with the forensic department, where investigations are continuing. We are still waiting for results that may provide critical details, such as the cause of death, gender, and any leads to identify the mother.
“The case remains a priority, but the progress is dependent on information.
“We urge anyone who might have seen or heard something, or who has knowledge of the circumstances of this tragedy, to contact us. Even the smallest detail could be the key to unlocking this investigation,” said Ledwaba.

She said the police had made no arrests yet. They have not ruled out the possibility that the foetus may have been abandoned shortly before being discovered. They are also considering whether the incident took place elsewhere before someone left the remains at the location.
Authorities emphasised that those with information can remain anonymous and that community cooperation is essential in ensuring justice.
