Reiger Park SAPS cracks down on drugs, drunk driving

The spokesperson of the police station, Constable Johannes Msimanga, emphasised their commitment to combating crime and urged community members to report any suspicious behaviour.

Reiger Park SAPS Crime Prevention Unit arrested eight suspects between April 9 and April 15 for various offences.

The spokesperson for the police station, Constable Johannes Msimanga said the officers arrested four people for drug possession while nabbing another four for driving under the influence.

“Drugs are a significant contributor to criminal activity in Reiger Park and we will continue to arrest those who engage in this illegal behaviour.
“The four suspects arrested for possession of drugs face serious charges, as drug-related offences often lead to other criminal activities, such as theft, burglary and assault.

“We want to make it clear that we will not tolerate such behaviour and will take all necessary steps to ensure the safety and security of the community,” said Msimanga.

Besides drug-related arrests, Msimanga said the unit also made significant progress in addressing drunk driving.
“Drunk driving poses a severe threat to the safety of both motorists and pedestrians.

“We will not condone this behaviour and will continue to arrest those who break the law.”

Msimanga encouraged residents to report any suspicious behaviour or criminal activity.
“We cannot combat crime alone. We rely on the support and cooperation of the community to help us keep Reiger Park safe.”
