Pedestrian found with unlicensed gun and live ammunition

The Spokesperson of Dawn Park SAPS, Sergeant Nkemeleng Mabula urges the community to continue working closely with them to ensure a safer community.

Dawn Park SAPS Crime Prevention Unit recently arrested a 46-year-old man from Windmill Park who was found in possession of an unlicensed firearm and live ammunition.

According to spokesperson of Dawn Park SAPS, Sergeant Nkemeleng Mabula, the unit was patrolling in the area on April 10 when they stopped a man walking in Trichardts Road.

“He was searched and officers found a firearm and live ammunition, for which he could not provide a licence.
“The 9mm firearm, with the serial number filed off, will be subjected to a ballistic examination to determine if it was used in the commission of any crimes.

“The suspect will appear in Vosloorus Magistrate’s Court soon.

“The possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition is a serious crime that poses a significant threat to the community.

“We are committed to ensuring that such criminals are brought to book and face the full force of the law.
“The community is encouraged to continue working closely with the police and reporting any suspicious activities. “We rely on the community’s support to fight crime, and together, we can make our communities safer,” said Mabula.
