Resident found with unlicenced gun

Dawn Park SAPS and EMPD traffic wardens recently arrested a 32-year-old male suspect in Windmill for possession of an unlicensed firearm.

According to Sergeant Nkemeleng Mabula, on April 11 at about 10:30, Dawn Park SAPS and traffic wardens were patrolling the Windmill Park area when they received a tip-off from a resident.

“Officers proceeded to the given address and asked the homeowner for permission to search him.

“During the search, a firearm was found in his possession, which he failed to produce a licence for.

“The 9mm firearm, with the serial number filed off, will be subjected to ballistic examination to determine if it was used in the commission of any crimes. The suspect will soon appear in the Vosloorus Magistrate’s Court soon,” said Nkemeleng.
